HANCOCKS IVORY WARE STAFFORDSHIRE ART DECO POTTERY CHAMBER STICK CANDLESTICK C.1930
"A rare and desirable art deco pottery novelty item - few of these hand painted art deco pottery chamber stick candlestick holders have survived. Stylistically decoration in miniature is typical of designs found on larger Hancocks Ivory Ware pieces, like decorative tableware plates and dishes." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

References: The Staffordshire firm of Sampson Hancock and Sons made a range of good quality decorative hand painted and designer art deco wares at their Corona Pottery works Hanley from 1923 until 1937 when the factory closed.
Dimensions: height 48 mm max. width 103 mm max.
Marks: "Hancock's Ivory Ware" backstamp as illustrated.
Condition: A good display example. There is a forked hairline to underside base. Restoration to shallow rim chip to candle holder rim and repainting. Few of these pieces survive as if they were used as intended they generally were damaged then thrown away. Overall this novelty item of art deco pottery displays well.
