STRIKING
ART DECO PERIOD BRETBY ART POTTERY NERTON
WARE GLAZE EFFECT VASE C.
1925-1935
"Stylish Bretby Art pottery
vase dating from the classic Art Deco period. Dates we estimate
from the mid-1920s to 1930s. We understand this striking pattern
design of crystalline style running glaze effects was known
as Nerton Ware by the Bretby Art pottery. This pattern is
found in a range of background colours. This appears to be the
factory royal blue. There is certainly a hint of Ruskin
pottery in this fabulous shape and finish."

Dimensions: height 190
mm max., width 115 mm max.
Marks: impressed marks
and pattern number, as illustrated.
Condition: found in
good overall condition commensurate with age and use. There are a
number of tight hairline cracks from the rim, probably 'natural'
water damage not knocks. These are all but lost in the pattern:
difficult to spot on the outside without close inspection and a
magnifier. See enlarged image below of the 'worst' example. The
piece is quite stable and wonderful for display.
