VINTAGE EWENNY WALES ART POTTERY INKY BLUE GLAZE  JUG VASE - EARLY 20TH CENTURY
"A striking Ewenny Wales art pottery hand thrown jug vase with an unusual inky blue glaze colour way. Ewenny pottery South Wales dates from the 19th century. Within fifty years it became the major art pottery of Wales. We estimate this vintage piece dates from around the 1920s art deco period. Pieces however are difficult to age exactly as standard shapes and marks have been in production for long periods into the 20th century. Many mottled and running-glaze Ewenny Art Pottery vases were produced and each glaze effect on these delightful hand crafted pieces is effectively unique." Antiques Expert Hamilton Bear.

Dimensions: height 140 mm max.
Marks: incised "Ewenny Wales" in script as illustrated.
Condition: A fine tight hairline crack extends down from the front of the spout and across the vase to the handle. This is visually 'lost' in the reflective decorative finish and difficult to spot without a magnifying glass and a bright light. The piece remains very robust and displays very well indeed as illustrated.
